Hello, and welcome! Since it has been a while since my last post, I thought I would share with you what has been going on these past few weeks.
The lack of content was most definitely a result of the business of the season. From the end of semester projects to Thanksgiving to finals, and finally gearing up to Christmas, I guess you can say I have been a little busy (but haven’t we all?)
Fall Semester
Last Tuesday, I finished the fall semester of my senior year, which means there is only one more to go! I am honestly in shock that my college years have gone by so quickly, but on the other hand, I am very excited to graduate.
I was fully online this semester, which at first terrified me, but I ended up loving the online format and the classes I took. The online format gave me a flexible schedule, which made it easy to balance my classes with my internship (don’t worry I’ll mention that in a second). Although this semester was a bit challenging, I ended with a 4.0 GPA. Not only did I do well in my classes, but I felt like I learned a lot of useful skills in each class, which will benefit me in the future.
Classes I took:
- News Reporting & Writing
- Data Journalism
- Media Ethics
- Advanced College Writing
- Popular Culture & Entertainment of the 1980s (probably the most fun class I’ve gotten to take in college!)
Before this semester, I decided to pick up a journalism minor, which was why I was in so many writing and media courses. I never really saw myself as a journalist, but I really enjoyed all of my journalism classes this semester. They taught me so much about writing, which has helped me get back in the groove of writing for my blog!
Internship
In August, I landed an internship with the Kentucky Campus Compact as one of their Communications Coordinators. This internship is a remote position, and I am incredibly grateful to have this job during the pandemic. As a Communications Coordinator, I have helped run the Compact’s social media pages, redesigned their WordPress website, written blog posts, and have helped create monthly newsletters.
My internship has helped me gain valuable skills in content creation and social media management. My position has given me a better vision of what I want to do with my future, which has me excited for life after graduation!
Holidays
‘Tis the season! Since my last post, I have been celebrating the holiday season with my family. For Thanksgiving, we had our first-ever mini-Thanksgiving, with just immediate family. Although I missed traveling to see my extended family, I enjoyed relaxing and having a low-key holiday.
With Christmas just around the corner, I have been rushing to finish my Christmas shopping before the big day. The holidays this year may look a little different, but I am still excited for this season. Christmas is my favorite holiday, mostly because of the music, the movies, and the food! I have already watched the movie Elf three times but will most likely watch it another 3 or 4 times before Christmas.
As 2020 comes to a close and we ring in the New Year, I am starting to think of goals for 2021. In the new year, I plan on refocusing my time and energy back on my blog and social media content. I have great content ideas in mind for the upcoming year that I cannot wait to share with you.
I hope you all have a safe and healthy holiday. I appreciate all who spend the time to read my blog and connect with me on my social media pages; your support means the world!
